Emergency Plan
Emergency Plan
What should I do in an emergency?
Kent Resilience Forum - Kent Prepared is the official website for the Kent and Medway Resilience Forum (KMRF)
The Kent Resilience Forum is made up of local emergency services, health agencies, local authorities, the military and the Environment Agency and they have produced a very useful handbook on what to do in the event of an emergency including:
- flood
- fire
- high winds
- heavy snow and extreme cold
- summer heatwaves
- infectious diseases
- loss of power and water
- security incidents.
The handbook also contains helpful information on how to make a household emergency plan, what to pack in an emergency ‘grab bag’ and a quick reference for emergency and information contacts, such as NHS and the Environment Agency.
The is available for you to make sure you’re properly prepared for an emergency and can be downloaded at the bottom of this page.
Power cuts
UK Power Networks is the electrical distribution company that covers the South East and although power cuts do not happen very often, it is their job to ensure it stays that way.
If you need extra support during a power cut or if you know someone else that would need extra support, you can sign up to the Priority Services Register.
If widespread flooding and gale force winds affect electricity supplies, it is more important than ever for people to know who to contact in an emergency.
