The preparation of the new Medway Local Plan has now reached a key stage, known as 'Regulation 19', in setting out a framework and policies for managing development in Medway up to 2041. The consultation will close on Monday 11th August 2025 at 11:59pm.
The examination of the Plan considers if it is legally compliant, sound, and complies with the Duty to Cooperate on cross border strategic matters. Representations to the Regulation 19 Plan must be made under these three aspects and follow a prescribed format for the Planning Inspectorate.
The Parish Council will be reviewing the documents over the coming weeks and arranging meetings to discuss our response. The main areas in Frindsbury Extra Parish which will be discussed is:
• land that sits in Gravesham is to the west of Gravesend Road, referred to as Chapter Farm. The majority of Medway's land (Strood West) sits to the east of Gravesend Road with a portion south of the Gravesham parcels.
• Medway City Estate which has the opportunity to be turned partly to residential and be called Frindsbury Peninsula.
Councillors will review the document in its entirety and comment on any aspects which directly affect the Parish and other surrounding areas.
Residents are encouraged to review the document and make comment as instructed under the three aspects detailed above. For more information follow the below link to Medway Councils website.
